Create a backup

  1. Choose CSV export in Settings.
  2. Select a destination and file name in the Android document picker.
  3. Keep the file somewhere you can access after changing phones or removing the app.
  4. Make a fresh backup before a large edit or an import.

What goes into the backup?

The file includes your assets, transactions and exported settings. The format that supports groups also keeps your group assignments. Public wallet addresses may be included if you use wallet updates.

A CSV is readable text, not an encrypted backup. Store it somewhere with access you control. For import, use a Portfoliom backup: a broker's CSV statement may have a different format.

Restore a backup or move to another phone

  1. Install Portfoliom on the new phone, then choose CSV import in Settings.
  2. Select the backup and read the confirmation. Import restores a backup; it does not merge two separate investment lists.
  3. If the file includes wallet addresses, choose whether to enable wallet updates.
  4. After importing, check your holdings and groups, then refresh prices.

A few things to check

The current app can read older Portfoliom backups. The reverse may not work: an older app may be unable to restore a newer backup containing groups. Use an up-to-date version on both phones.

A CSV does not transfer your Google Play subscription or keep phones in sync automatically. Subscription asset limits still apply when restoring multiple holdings.
