What is a withdrawal rate?
The withdrawal rate is the share of your savings you plan to take out each year. The calculator divides annual spending by that rate. Enter the full year's spending, not one month's amount.
For example, HUF 6 million a year at a 4% withdrawal rate gives a target of HUF 150 million. The 4% is part of the example, not a recommendation or a guaranteed sustainable rate.
Set up a FIRE scenario
- On Savings, select the target mode based on annual spending and withdrawal rate.
- Enter annual spending and the withdrawal rate you want to examine.
- Set monthly savings and an annual growth assumption.
- Inspect the resulting target, current progress and estimated time to reach it.
What changes the target?
Higher annual spending means a larger target at the same withdrawal rate. Choosing a lower rate also increases the target. Monthly savings and assumed growth affect how long it might take to get there.
The calculation starts with the value of the assets you have entered. Consider how much of that wealth would actually be available to cover your living costs.
How to read the result
The date is an estimate based on your inputs, not advice to retire. The app does not establish that your chosen rate is sustainable. Returns, spending and taxes can change; use the calculator to compare different assumptions.
